Today was an amazing day! It was actually the first time we have gotten out and actually done something touristy and ventured into some of India's history! I wish that i could load all 250 pictures on here to show you, but i will just have to make do with the 4 i am allowed!
I don't think i have ever seen something as breathtaking, majestic, or just plain huge as this fort! Inside the fort were a few Mosques and Hindi Temples as well! Words just cant describe it...With its gardens, its huge arches, endless stair cases, it was a marvel from bottom to top! From midway up the stairs you could see the Tombs off in the distance, and from the top you could see all of Hyderabad, the lakes, the fields the houses the city....From up there it was easy to forget the poverty and devastation....all you could see was beauty!
For us the experience was awesome, and the fort amazing....but as it turns out, the four of us, especially Becca and myself were actually the days "attraction". It was literally humorous to us...The first woman to be brave and bold crossed into my path to brush her arm with my arm, a small but deliberate gesture and realizing that i didn't get upset she then found the courage to full on grab Becca's arm and then excitedly rejoined her friends! From that point foreword we were "celebrities" as people got excited from us simply saying hi, or the brave lucky ones got a photo with her and i! It was funny because sometimes when Ryan and Scott tried to be in the pictures with us they would even be as bold to ask one of the guys to take the picture so that they could just be in the frame with us...I guess they don't see many American women, and news seems to travel quickly around here! It was an amazing day, filled with memories that will last a lifetime, and certainly moments i will always treasure!
On the way home, in a new area that we had not yet been to we found some of the prettiest materials and Sari shops, so Becca and i decided to give it a go, and we got measured for tunics, pants, and scarves (the less traditional wear) custom sewn just for us on the material of our choice. Tomorrow her and i will catch a rickshaw back down to the shop, and if we like what we get we just might have to have more made...It is soooooooo hot out!!! Over 100F yet again today! We are in for a brutal summer i believe, but i am not complaining...Its March and i literally have flip flop tan lines!!!!!
